If the bodycount and/or prestige of position determines the level of scandal facing a President, then Obama has a lot of catching up to do if he wants his legacy of American deaths to surpass Bush.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Oh, and pure hindsight. Even in that article. Soon you'll run out of cherries.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

DD, your argument is that the State Department should have removed the consulate based entirely on hindsight. The fact is that they were aware of the dangers, but did not have enough evidence to believe that there would be a coordinated attack. The articles you didn't read mention all this. Posting articles alone doesn't prove your point. You've got to use your brain.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I guess if you have to blame anyone for this, then it would have to be the House Republicans who have cut security for our diplomats, including the Benghazi consulate. No wonder they weren't prepared for a coordinated attack!“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. DaShi: The argument that they should have removed the consulate staff is based solely on the situation as it existed prior to 9/11/12 which caused both the UK (Their ambassador had been the subject of an assassination attempt himself) and Red Cross to pull out due to the security situation in Benghazi leaving the US as the last Western representatives in the city. The American consulate had been the subject of at least one attack before and the staff was clearly worried about the state of security at the Benghazi consulate. What part of the run up to this situation screams competence on the part of the State Department to you?I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

I'm not saying there isn't an argument for removing the consulate. I'm saying that that argument is now being made in hindsight. US consulates and embassies have been attacked before, some successful and some not. Mistakes were clearly made. Otherwise, this would not have happened. However, it remains unclear where the blame will fall and likely not not be addressed at all. Nor does it reflect incompetency from the State Department. Had this not been made a political issue, more would be done actually to identify what went wrong and what are the lessons learned than to shift blame. That there are so many complaints over what Rice and Obama said at the time demonstrates this.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
