They didn't enter Texas illegally. That's the point. The independent state of Texas did not exist. They entered the United States illegally if they came over without papers. If Texas were to leave - they would become citizens of Texas if they were willing to come forward and register, just like everyone else would have to do.Yeah, Texas is not going to give instant citizenship to all the Mexicans who entered illegally.
That's what happened the last time that Texas went independent.
