If donations to Mitt Romney count, I've probably donated about 90 dollars to his campaign (I bought two t-shirts and then donated 30 bucks).
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

      What a waste of money.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

I'm curious, how do pro-life groups actually stop fetuses from getting aborted?

I'm curious, how do pro-life groups actually stop fetuses from getting aborted?
Several ways. One - crisis pregnancy centres actually help women in a crisis pregnancy - they find her stuff she needs for the baby, clothes, etc - they give her some medical care and counselling and transportation around. They make it easier for her to keep her baby.

Two, some prolife groups do lobbying - they push the legislature to pass laws that push abortion restrictions.

Three, some prolife groups do sidewalk counselling - they work with the women who are considering abortion and give them an alternative. Some do outreach work on campuses, and sponsor lectures by prolife folks to come to campus.

So there's lots of ways they help.

Got to love some people's definition of charity. By this standard I regularly buy the drinks when I'm out with friends, so I'm contributing greatly to charity.

I don't consider donating to a religious organization that you belong to charity.

Good point. I brought a bottle of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey to a Sexy Underwear party last night. I'm writing it off as a charitable giving. Click image for larger version

The stripper at the club the other night was named Charity. I provided a generous contribution.

Especially since almost none of it goes to help needy people. If your "giving" is designed to help yourself and not needy people then it isn't charity even if it's a bribe/offering given out of fear you'll go to hell if you don't. This is doubly true if it goes to a thieving clergy who give only a tiny percentage of it to the needy and instead use it to pay themselves (often lavishly), to pay the mortgage on the symbol of their power (the building which the "church" owns but which the pastor defacto controls), or just to pay day to day expenses for the above two. That's not charity.
