If true I'm not sure I want it since it may cost too much sleep
I remember that game fondly. Thanks for reminding me! Xcom is like that, but better
I just faced my first terror mission. Im traumatised. I literally stared bug eyed at my monitor as my team were torn to shreds. Kudos for inspiring in me such an emotive response.
All right. Titan armor for all (Skeleton for sniper), plasma for all (plasma rifle for assault), 3 Col., 1 Maj., 1 Cpt., 1 Sgt. Time for the Classic Ironman alien base raid.
Well, it will be tomorrow after I get home from work, anyway.
Lost all of Africa, Mexico, France, and Germany so far, but everyone else is covered, and only the US has as much as three panic levels. We are winning the war, gentlemen.
I did it on Classic with only one guy having Titan armor and 2 heavies with standard LMG's, the rest plasmas. It's a narrow base though, meaning your sniper and all the tactics you've learned can suck a fat one.
Also once psionics come into play you will not be winning so enjoy it.

Love incubation!

I've finally (in game 11) got a proper Officer (Lieutenant). Sigh. Very hard for me to keep a proper selection of guys - I assume at some point once I have lasers and carapace armor I'll not lose so many people, but I still have that 'lose a full health guy to a random bad luck in-cover crit hit' problem at this stage. But I think I'm doing a bit better- Lieutenant, sergeant, and a corporal, which is the highest ranking group of guys i've ever had by far.

I got past the alien base and had ghost armor but my guys couldn't hit **** because I had 2 squad wipes in a row with 6 guys

Skip laser, go straight for plasma. Stun all the aliens you can and research their plasma weapons as soon as possible.

What do research credits do? Do they just automatically reduce the cost of researching things? I think that's what you get when you stun an alien with a plasma pistol or whatever, right?

You get research credit when you interrogate or autopsy an alien; when you stun them, their weapon doesn't explode into fragments, but is captured whole for your own use.
So, if you happen to have stunned four Thin Men, and you also research the light plasma rifle, you'll have four light plasma rifles to outfit your squad with.
And yeah, credits make speed the relevant paths of research.

Which is better, Archangel armor or Ghost armor? I rather like the ability to fly and think it is very helpful, but I can see stealth also being useful.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers? ){ :|:& };:
Ghost, except possibly for snipers. Invisibility is awesome, while flight is basically useless on a lot of maps. Even for my sniper with In The Zone I was only able to take advantage of flight a few times.
Flight would be a lot better and more interesting if it represented a major speed increase and/or sufficient altitude negated cover.
@snotty & MRT144, thanks, I feel less alone enjoying Incubation.
Guess that I have to get X-COM
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
I have found flight to be very useful against Berserkers and Chrysalids. On Terror missions, you can fly around and rescue civilians with impunity.
Except for the bit where the non-melee enemies can hit you with ease. And, again, flying doesn't actually make you any faster; the only REAL movement advantage it has over the grapple is the ability to create your own (heavily exposed) high ground.
