  • I don't get why so many Republicans hate what Obama's done for foreign policy.

They may not know this, but he actually has done a great job at restoring America's reputation after Bush trashed it. That's a good thing.

    • I'm personally not sorry we overthrew Saddam Hussein. That being said, the whole strategy is premised on the idea that this will make them like us, turns out, it just makes us seem weak.

Diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggie" until you can find a rock. Obama ditches the rock part.

Look, I'm not a particularly big fan of the guy myself, and there are lots and lots of legitimate reasons to oppose him. But that is ****ING STUPID.
So he has to disagree with what right-wing intellectual leaders believe in order to have a valid conservative opinion? You can disagree with him, but the fact that a conservative says and believes conservative things makes him neither a parrot nor stupid.

If you want a perfect example of Obama apologism, just take another listen to his speech in Egypt at the beginning of his term.

You mean, ditches rocks and picks up flying death robots? What planet have you spent the last four years on?

There has been a notable dearth of flying death robots over Iran.

I guess Netenyahu is also a massive ***** because I haven't seen him bomb Iran yet.

I'm saying that anyone who legitimately believes that Obama's foreign policy is "to go around apologizing for everything we've done," as Hannity and his ilk claim, is either ****ing stupid, or dislikes Obama so much that they are extremely credulous about any negative phrase said or written about him. It is nearly on the same level as people saying he is a Marxist, or Muslim, or Kenyan, etc.

Netanyahu isn't in charge of a world superpower. He's in charge of Israel. And he is, in fact, threatening to bomb Iran, he's just holding out hope that Romney wins the election so that he'll have US support.

Guy, when he made his famous speech in Cairo a couple of years back, he basically stated that he would no longer play tough guy with Arab states. He tried to negotiate with Iran. He tried to do a "reset" with Russia. These failed miserably. Obviously his foreign policy also includes trade agreements and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But towards our traditional enemies, he's tried to be nice to them and it's predictably resulted in the same thing that happened with Carter. They just ignore us.

There are some parts of Obama's foreign policy that I approve of. I like the trade agreements he signed, and I wish he would sign more. I like that he is pursuing Al Qaeda in Yemen. But to the extent that I like his foreign policy, it's basically the same as Bush's.

So he's making idle threats? I thought he was supposed to be in the "nice doggie" stage?

They are not idle. If Iran is on the cusp of getting a bomb, Israel will attack them. Netanyahu is just waiting to see if there's some last chance he can get US help, because that would be less risky than going it alone.

Israel has shown itself more than willing to engage in unilateral strikes if necessary, such as in Iraq and Syria. But Iran is a much tougher target. They could do it, probably. With US help? Definitely.

The Israelis are a bunch of psychos. If Iran gets a bomb nothing will happen.

No, the Iranians are a bunch of psychos who want to destroy Israel and fund terrorist groups all along Israel's borders. Iran getting the bomb would be a Very Bad Thing.

The only thing you could say has 'failed' are his negotiations with Iran. That is because Iran are being ****wads. As a result he's applied sanctions (you know, just like with Iraq). Moving to sanctions or military actions before trying to resolve problems diplomatically would be incredibly stupid.

Who, exactly, are these "traditional enemies"? Did I miss a war on Egypt or Russia at some point?

I repeat: show me where his foreign policy has been "to go around apologizing for everything we've done," or stop saying that ****ing stupid ridiculous line, because it makes the anti-Obama side look ****ing stupid. And I don't want the anti-Obama side to look ****ing stupid.
