Why would you hear about it? Is the student or their parents going to announce to the world that their degree is a worthless peice of paper? Is the lecturer going to tell the world that he/she is a dishonest crook who sold their integrity for cash?

This stuff happens and has always happened, to deny it is to deny basic human nature. Lecturers are not super-human, they have the same capacity for temptation as anyone else when a hot student flashes some leg or a rich one flashes some cash.

I actually find it worse when its rich parents donating to colleges to ensure entry for their kids though, that **** is far too tolerated.

Not one single person has ever used money and influence to get a degree they didn't earn from big, reputable American universities. Jaguar said so. Who cares if it flies in the face of human nature and what we already know of how the big colleges work?

Lack of explicit public evidence doesn't mean it never happens. And it's not conspiracy theories to say it does. It's not some obscure theory.

What we know about humanity and what we know about how those colleges work, and given we know some spectacularly dumb people with degrees from them, it's pretty obvious.

It's hardly an original thought. Human nature has demonstrated such activities since the beginning of our existence. It's how the world works.
