Right, the fact that we never hear about it is evidence. But if it were public, that would also be evidence! You're so good at science Asher. Sensei, how can I learn your amazing skills of deduction?

Note: If something is evidence no matter the outcome, it's not actually evidence. This is what we call "falsifiability".
    2) Most everyone can be bought.
No, they can't. You have no evidence for this other than a fuzzy cynical thought process on the world.

I might do it for the BJ though.

      • I have nothing more to say other than thank you for demonstrating my point about how some academically bright people just don't get it.

This happens a lot on a TA level. Not that I'd expect Jaguar or HC to know that.

So are you thanking yourself? Or were you not academically bright?

Also thank you for demonstrating the complete lack of humour many of them have.

Or were you not academically bright?
I was brilliant in optimizing my effort to get my degree. I skipped about 75% of my lectures, all of my labs/tutorials, and crammed before exams. It prepared me for the real world, where no one lectures me on how to do things and I have to figure it out as I go while under the gun.

Sounds more like your professors sucked and your classes were too easy. We don't have that problem at CMU. Of course, that didn't stop Kuci from skipping lectures, but I find them helpful.

No, they were fine and the courses were pretty standard. I just don't learn by lectures - never have. I don't absorb information that way, so lectures were a waste.

Some people are just more intuitive than others and don't need the lectures. I'm a self-learner, which is a terrific trait. It got me where I am today.

Example: Need to release software in 4 months to accompany new product launch, it's in a 10 year old codebase with 2 million lines of code and programming languages you've never used (Ruby, ObjC, Python in addition to C++).

Many people were approached, but most turned them down ("I don't know Ruby/ObjC/Python, etc. I need to buy books on them and study it and need some ramp up time.").

I told them "Sure, I'll do it" and learned it all as I went. And learned it quickly.

And when you do **** like that, you make an impression. It's how the real world works. There's no time to attend lectures or read books, just ****ing do it.

                    • Don't try to patronize me, Ben. I do most definitely understand what Christian marriage is about. Christ said he made them male and female because that is what the people he was speaking to understood.
Ah, so it's wrong because we are now so enlightened, we don't need to follow Christ and what he teaches.

Where do you draw the line, Imran? What parts of the bible do we have to follow?

as it was for slavery and equal rights for women, so it shall be for homosexuality as His will slowly and surely is revealed. I trust you have heard of John Calvin's Doctrine of Accommodation?
Where did Christ teach that women were inferior? Where did Christ teach that black men were less persons than white men?

Christ does teach that homosexuality is sinful.

I think we can love the sinner and hate the sin, but the line can get quickly fuzzy, and all too often those who claim it in the realm of homosexuality fall into a very non-loving position.
Ah - so you define all opposition to homosexuality as 'non-loving'? That's awful convenient.

I think you also forget that I had a homosexual pastor and my denomination, the ELCA, accepts homosexual pastors in monogamous homosexual relationships, through the discernment of the Holy Spirit and a, in my view, proper reading of Scripture.
I think you think I'm a moron. Yes, I'm aware of all these things. Why do you think I'm hammering away at your faulty understanding of Christian marriage?

                        • You probably think no American cop would take a bribe, too. It's kind of cute.
I love it how Asher makes sure to specify 'American'. Apparently corruption and crime stops at the 49th parallel.

This thread is yet another of the Real World vs Kuci clique, and the Real World has won.

It was added because Jaguar thinks corruption doesn't happen in his land.

HC's position was, in brief, at good American schools people never buy their degrees. His evidence is Google only shows a bunch of "lesser" schools having this problem. Ergo, good schools don't.

It was a retarded position, and a naive one.
