You're the one contributing to the single highest demographic for suicide risk with your support of the GOP. You support a party which has stopped providing life-saving funding to many programs for religious reasons, directly contributing to the death of many thousands of people.

He's right. Republicans and Democrats both have proven incapable of doing the job. They both need to go. But who will replace them?

Because I recognized the fact of overpopulation doesn't mean you get to tell me to kill myself. You classed up this thread, I'm delivering the death blow.
It's hypocritical to argue that other people should die for your aims so that there are fewer people in the world.

I never said people should die, I said people shouldn't be breeding.

You're the one who said children should be raped.

I do not, and never have, supported suicide. I do not, and never have, supported discrimination against gays.

On the flipside, you would support a party that believes it is okay to kill unborn children. That I find totally unacceptable. Now, you are trying to act as though suicide of someone close to you is some sort of game, where if you have more, you apparently get to take the "high ground", whatever that is. Simply by saying that, I believe you have ceded whatever chance you ever stood of occupying some sort of high ground. So I say again, if you really stand by what you said, you are not a nice person.

Ron Paul? I'd prefer Stephen Harper, but I don't think that's constitutionally possible.

At least Ron Paul is anti-abortion.

So you're now in favor of gay marriage? What're you doing to support it?

If you find it unacceptable, perhaps you should review the definition of what a child is and cross-reference that with what a fetus is. Once you clear up your terminology, you should feel better.

It's not some sort of game, it's a fact of life. It's been a bigger part of my life than it is yours. Every single one of my friends or acquaintances that have killed themselves come from strongly conservative/GOP households and most of them were also from religious families. The GOP's policies directly contribute to the environment and society that causes those kids to pull the trigger. It's not something to be made light of, but then you can talk to Ben who suggested I kill myself.

I'm also confused - whatever gave you the impression I was joking when I said Ben should put a bullet in his head?

I am not a religious Republican. I do not support gay marriage but I do not oppose it either. If it came up for referendum in Virginia, I would probably abstain. It is not a topic that interests me. However, I disagree with your description of it as some sort of civil right.

This is not a game of terminology, it is a game of ethics, and something that I feel that you are clearly in the wrong about.

So you don't deny it. You think that how big a part of your life it is is relevant. That we need to compare each other's personal loss and create a totem pole of tragedy, and you would put yourself on top of it, and your placement there grants you license to make light of it and act as though others have no right to be upset. Like I said before: Not nice.

I did not read Ben's post as suggesting that you kill yourself. Maybe I was mistaken? That doesn't excuse you.

It is a civil right in Canada. I don't care if it is or isn't in America. Your country is not a model for how things should be done.

BTW, you are truly a bad person if you abstain on the issue. Truly. It's a no-brainer issue to anyone who is not a religious bigot. It either means you are a terrible person, or a stupid person, or a coward.

You can believe whatever you want. The difference between you and me is you want to legislate your beliefs on others. And you claim to be proud of freedom.

Yeah, I suppose his post was pretty vague:

I'm not asking to be excused in any way. You interjected yourself in a conversation between me and Ben and you apparently didn't even take the time to read the context. You can kiss my ass.

Why don't you stop being a bigot who enables discrimination.

I am a bigot for having no position on something? That doesn't make sense.

The only thing I oppose with respect to gay marriage is the courts legislating on the issue.
