I would like to point out that I certainly don't think most arabs fit into the violent mobster savage pidgeonhole. That would be racist and ridiculous. Their prevalence is distressing, however.

I assume this is referring to Egypt and not Libya. I think it would be fair to say that Libya's current nominal leadership is more pro-American than Gaddafi was. Unfortunately (or fortunately, perhaps) they lack his level of control.

In Egypt's case, getting rid of Mubarak has brought nothing but bad things.

I still want to be optimistic about Libya and hope that they can turn into some sort of reliable ally, but I rate the odds as low.

We can all agree the videomaker is an *******.

But we should also all agree that someone being an ******* is never grounds to murder them, let alone someone who just happens to come from the same country as the *******. And the responsibility lies purely with the murderers.

I don't agree. Freedom of artistic expression is covered by the 1st amendment in the US. If I want to make a movie wih a gay Jesus having sex with a gay Mohammed, I have the right to make it and show it. I won't, though not out of cultural sensitivity or morality, but because it has already been made.

Libya is one small step above anarchy; anyone doing any kind of business in Libya should be armed to the teeth - or do the business electronically from some safe distance.

It's not about freedom of expression, Sparky. It's about civility. There's a big difference between calling someone an ******* and preventing them from doing something.

Example:
I walk up to a guy on the street.
"Hey, dude, you're fat."

Legal, permitted, should not be attacked? Yes. Rude, uncivil? Yes. Am I an *******? Yes.

You can express yourself however you want, but if you do it in a rude way, you're going to reap what you sow. I don't think anyone should have been killed as a result of this movie, but that doesn't mean the guy who made it isn't an *******. That's called civilization.

It's not hard to see that a lot of these people are predisposed to hating the US
