Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

I still get a chill down my spine whenever I see a picture of the twin towers. The footage of the buildings collapsing was the scariest thing I'd ever seen when it happened, and it always makes me furious.

            It is today, not yesterday.

I still remember the fighter jets flying over my head as I walked home from school. I thought the world was ending.

The world must learn to be less violent. I pray for these souls, and all others that were taken too soon.

I still remember showing up at work early and reading about it here and thought someone was pranking at first. The real news sites were so overloaded it took a few minutes to get some confirmation.
                        A sad day.

I saw it out the window of the lab where I worked. Nobody slept that night.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

A terrible event, but the greater tragedy was not the towers falling but the country's reaction to it.

I remember when Democratic and Republican Congressmen sang America on the steps of the Capital. I remember people who had never met extending a hand to their neighbor. It was our last true moment of unity. I loved how the country reacted to this tragedy.
