It's been in the process for several months though really only truly "real" for the last two months. I feel pathetic to be in my mid 30's and have a relationship I thought was going towards marriage fall apart.

I've been there, buddy . I had an engagement fall apart recently, though the relationship had been crumbling for 10 months or so. Although, and I'm sure you know this, if it had been in the process of falling apart, you are likely better off.

Then I thought it would be amicable, then I thought maybe we might work through it, and now she apparently has gotten a new wind under her sails and has moved in with her new boyfriend. I know this too shall pass but it's not feeling so great right now especially since she was unemployed for the last two years and I was the sole bread winner paying for everything and a bit of gratitude would be nice. I mean coming over just to argue about house plants and home furnishings when I paid for both? Especially since she moved out and abandoned both? WTF?

I told her to take them, I don't care, and I'll just buy new ones, I can afford it, but part of me wants to tell her to f' off and get her new boy toy to buy her this ****.

And that sucks royally. I've found that being "amicable" just doesn't really work, unless you've given yourself 6 months to a year without talking to the person you datings - then MAYBE you can be amicable then. Small crap will just annoy the Hell out of you and make you feel like crap (even though rationally you know you are better off - esp if you were paying for everything). Better to act like the better person in a lot of this crap and then just say "Have a nice life" and forget about being friends. At least for a while.

And while it definitely does suck (esp if she broke it off, though I'm not sure based on what you said if it was her, or if it was more mutual), it will get better, even after 30 . Believe me, you just won't even be looking and sometimes the perfect person will be placed in front of you. Those things do happen!

I'm sitting here eating crappy Chinese take out, getting drunk on locally made beer, looking at the hardwood floors I hate but which my ex made me buy, and feeling bitter about life. The whole weekend has been about like this. It's rather sad and pathetic.

Do whatever you need to do and then get back out there and meet someone truly awesome. Maybe it is just London, but there seem to be tonnes of woman in need a good man and you've got a head start by being loaded.

I met my wife not long after a pretty devastating breakup and it was the best thing that could have happened.
