    Sorry NRA, these cancel out.
    What does that even mean?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

    • Another poster said the NRA website lists times that 'guns saved people' (soft quote). NRA has long said "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." Does having a gun really save people? Or is it the way people act in desperate situations that saves people?
My point is - guns don't save people, people save people.

Even worse, or better depending upon your point of view. Imagine the 5 year old twins, Muffy and Buffy, come racing into Uncle Bill's bedroom, now equipped with Holster Mate holding a loaded 9mm Glock. As Buffy climbs onto the bed his foot hits the Holster Mate, knocking out the Glock, which falls to the ground and fires, putting a cap into Buffy's ass. Now Uncle Bill has three little girls to take care of.

            • Glocks, like most defenseive/law enforcement handguns these days, are double-action and have trigger safeties. They will not spontaneously fire upon being dropped as the hammer is forward and the firing pin is not exposed.

              • That is true. Thus the most likely outcome is that Uncle Bill's neighbor's truck backfires, Muffy thinks it was Buffy trying to cap Uncle Bill and so draws her .357 mag and starts blasting away. Uncle Bill see's this as an unwarranted attack and so head shots Muffy with the weapon produced from the bed holster. Upon seeing Muffy has a weapon in her cold, dead hands, Buffy realizes that Uncle Bill is a terrorist who has infringed on her right to bear arms and so dives for Muffy's gun and comes up shooting at Uncle Bill.

                • You ever shoot a .357 mag? I own one, and the kick actually hurts. The first shot would knock her unconscious by slaming her backward into the wall. Srsly, do yr dmn rsrch.

It's is very rare for any gun to spontaneously fire. It mostly happens in movies and the imaginations of people who don't know what they're talking about.

When I worked at Checkers, one of my employees had a loaded revolver in his pocket. He was simply walking when it discharged. Fortunately, no one was hit.

Yes, bringing a weapon to work was a terminable offense and I had to disavow knowledge of the weapon when another employee went over my head to complain.

Really? That's strange, I've actually witnessed a 9 mm firing when dropped. Can't say it was a Glock though, not sure of the make, I was too distracted being ticked off.

                            • Anyone remember this story? Undercover cop fires 3 shots into the air to disperse a crowd. Another cop sees an apparent civilian shooting and opens fire, killing the officer.

A University of Central Florida police officer was shot to death by an Orlando police officer outside the Citrus Bowl as fans were arriving for a college football game Saturday, authorities said.

Dennis Smith, a reserve officer for the Orlando Police Department who had retired after 25 years on the force, was put on administrative leave after shooting Mario Jenkins before the University of Central Florida's football home opener.

Jenkins, an undercover officer working with state agents to stop illegal drinking, was a four-year veteran with the university police who was in his late 20s.

Witnesses told the Orlando Sentinel that the incident started with Jenkins breaking up a tailgate party. When he encountered resistance, they said, he fired three shots into the air. Smith then saw Jenkins with the gun and shot him several times, the newspaper said.

Sounds like he was about to go on a rampage to me. Honestly that can't be procedure, and the man deserved to die.
