30 round AR-15 magazines are perfectly reliable. Moreover, they can generally handle a very high cyclic rate, much faster than he would be pulling the trigger. More likely, it jammed because he used crap ammo.
Unless I'm mistaken and he was using one of those stupid-ass 100 round magazines? Those things are retarded and break all the time.
edit: Also I'm willing to bet he didn't take the gun apart and clean it. New guns are usually shipped with a rust preventative instead of lubricant oil. Whenever you buy a new gun, you need to take it apart, clean it out thoroughly, and apply a thin film of lube to all of the moving parts. He probably didn't do that.Comment
