You were in a different country and didn't know anyone else except for this guy you met on the Internet.
So why is that different from pulling someone off of craigslist?

    USMC Brat.
    Cool.

As most of the posters on here will tell you. Yeah, I still strongly doubt that Canada "despises you and what you believe".
If we put that up in a poll here, I strongly suspect most would confirm that yes, "Canada does despise me and what I believe."

There was a very conservative guy(and also prior military) in one of my classes(Back when I was working on my AA after I got out of the Navy) who absolutely did not like what he was hearing in a history class, and he was giving some pretty ****ty counterpoints. One day he blew up about the "liberal professors"(lol part time instructors at a CC) and claimed he was being "persecuted for his conservative beliefs".

No, it was because he was being an ass and doing a ****ty job of backing up his claims. Your sob story about the professors picking on you puts me in the mind of that guy, not geniuine persecution which is what you're making it out to be.
Nah. I'm the guy who broke up the class on Welfare in Nordic Europe with a discussion on how women who stay at home with children should receive an extra stipend to reflect the work that they do for society.

Poly, I credit for my training on these grounds.

I had good professors and terrible ones. I don't think I ever received a C or a B in the two years I went back to school. A's and D's. Nothing in between. Now maybe that arrangement is by chance, but I strongly suspect that's not the case.

Again, You went as far as you could until you found a captive audience to push your religious beliefs...which just so happen to coincide with the organization you're working for.
Damn, that's like a complete coincidence.

The consequence is choosing not to purchase insurance. Assuming the ludricous implication that buying insurance will protect you from medical-related bankruptcy(it won't), not everyone can afford insurance, and you're basically saying "**** you kids" to any children who aren't covered.
As one of the folks who presently cannot afford insurance - what are you trying to tell me that I don't already know? It shouldn't be the responsibility of the American taxpayer to look after me. That's my responsibility. If I'm unable to do so, then them's the breaks.

Sometimes you can do everythign right and **** happens. And your response? "Oh, whelp, somehow it's a case of personal responsibility".
Heck, I agree with you fully. Lots of times good things happen to bad people. It still doesn't make it the responsibility of the American taxpayer to make me whole should that happen. It's my responsibility and as individual to do what I can to help people, not the duty of the american taxpayer.

They'll treat them for the acute symptom, not the chronic condition, unless they are properly covered.
And your problem with this is?

"No Insurance/Government aid/personal wealth? Guess you can't get that heart surgery"
You're talking bypasses and whatnot? Obamacare's not going to fix that. There will be waitlists and people will die on the streets waiting for their number to come up.

Are you unaware that you can write off charitable contributions?
And what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? If people weren't paying half their income to support the states, they could afford to donate more to charitable causes, or *gasp*, buy their own private insurance.

You think telling someone who is so poor he isn't in a taxable bracket anyway that "Ron Paul cares about you, but he's going to get rid of a *lot* of healthcare options, and education, so he personally can pay less taxes".
Why not? Why should people who make more than me pay more in taxes? Don't they deserve to keep what they worked hard to earn?

Holy ****. That is incredibly sad.

Isn't Texas embarrassed? Knowing Texans, they're proud of that number...

Anything that reduces Texan life expectancy is good in my books.

25 percent of the population is also under 18. Odd that young and healthy people would choose to do without.

10% of the population is gay, and humans only use 10% of their brain. OMG.

                  You have that wrong.

10% of the population is gay, and 10% use their brain. There is 100% overlap.

I was waiting for BK to leap onto the 10% of the population is gay thing while completely ignoring the 10% brain myth.

These statements make no sense together. People under 18 have no choice; they do not purchase insurance and, if insured, are carried on their parents' policies.

Massively raise taxes some time in the distent future, maybe? As of right now 100% of the expansion of medicare is covered by the Feds and it has been pre-funded for years. Sure, future Congresses might or might not continuing picking up 100% of the tab but that's not a given so the claim that it would involve a tax increase is rather tenuous. What is CERTAIN is that their continued opposition harms people in their own state. Millions of people will not get health care which has ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR THEM plus without the exchanges even those who do buy health insurance will end up paying more for that insurance.

Perry and the other Republican governors are just playing politics to the detriment of the people they are supposed to be representing. That much is obvious.

                          Thanks Perry!
You're stupid. No exchange means most people in Texas will still buy health insurance but they're likely to pay more for that insurance. Health care exchanges are a way for people and companies to go to one place, say exactly what type of coverage they want, and then receive a bid from every insurance company which is part of the exchange. This means one stop shopping and a reverse auction where insurance companies try to outbid each other so consumers end up paying less.

No wonder the insurance companies don't like them, they result in lower prices for consumers and increased competition. It's also no wonder why a corpora-crat like Perry sides with the companies and against the people of his state.

Yep. If the state refuses to set up an exchange then the Feds get to set it up for them. Once again GOP governors like Perry and Jindal are just grandstanding for their base while not doing anything for their citizens. It's going to come back to bite them in the ass too as this BS turns off independents and instead of getting to craft their state exchange the way they want they're going to get stuck with one designed by the Feds.
