Re: that study you posted...
it is intriguing, no doubt, but of limited scope and applicability at this point. I'm not going to put too much stock in it until it has been replicated in humans, both juveniles and adults."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

It's sad that Jack LaLanne talked about the problem with sugar way back in the 1950's (before he sold out with his juicers). Did America listen to what was known 60 years ago? Nope.
He suggested cutting these out of your diet for just five days and you'd feel better and be thanking him the rest of your life:
White sugar
Candy
Cake
Ice cream
Jams
Jellies
Cookies
Pies
Pastries
Canned fruits
Soda
America, why you no listen?Last edited by Al B. Sure!; June 27, 2012, 19:09."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

A lot of the problem is what people can actually buy at the corner store in the ghetto. Most of these people are dirt poor, many do not even have a car, so it is difficult to travel out of walking distance especially if they're carrying lots of grocery bags. If the local "store" is a 7-11 then they can really only buy what is sold there for the price offered. Guess what? That's mostly junk food and not lots of fresh fruits and veggies. The prices are probably high too.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Laura Rude-Barbato, a coffee shop owner in Imperial Beach, California, used to feed her children Nutella several times a week.
It was easy to identify with the advertising that depicted a frenzied mom serving up the chocolate-hazelnut spread with the tagline “breakfast never tasted this good,” said Rude-Barbato. Then she noticed the 10.5 grams of sugar per tablespoon.
“I had no idea,” she says. “I might as well have been giving my kids a brownie for breakfast.”
Rude-Barbato kicked the Nutella habit, then joined a class action lawsuit in a federal court in California that claimed Ferrero SpA’s U.S. unit misled consumers via labeling and marketing into thinking Nutella was healthy. In January, Ferrero settled the case and a similar one brought in New Jersey, without admitting guilt, for almost $7 million.
Then you have low-fat cakes and stuff that people swear are healthy (they're even marketed as diet food) when the sugar is still there and often more sugar is added to make up for the fat removal."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Funny thing - they had a close grocery store, several of them in fact. Why isn't it still open? Theft put them out of business. It wasn't just there, it was several of them, all trying to make a go of it there.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Yeah, if people don't spend money the way YOU would spend it then they're dumb and you should be in charge of telling them what to consume. I know. Yeah, I can't wait to live in a world where all candy, soda cookies and cakes are banned because some elitist ***** decided he knows what's best for everyone.
