"We better hire him, the state gives us a 20% tax credit if we have a ****** on the books."

EDIT: aimed at HC, although I guess it works with you too.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Maybe I should put my high school on my resume?

Alby, you're like the actor who spends his life waiting tables because he knows that big role is just around the corner but it never is. There comes a point when you just have to cut your losses.

Yes, being enlisted is "a waste". I can see why the USMC thinsk you aren't officer material.

The day he gives up is the day his shot opens.

I probably wouldn't bother with my high school if I were applying outside Northern Virginia, although I have a friend working at Microsoft who said that they seemed to care about it. At any rate if your high school is anywhere near as big a deal in Philly as TJ is in Northern Virginia, you might mention it, but I would be surprised if it is (no offense).

Well then you may as well give up, since this implies it won't open up while you're still trying.

The stars may be further away than they appear.

                  1) That's clearly not what I meant. It's a waste in the sense that, to use HC's analogy, the guy who's an aspiring actor giving up is a waste. It's a waste for him because he doesn't accomplish what he sought out to do.
                  2) Because I considered daftness from you, I went ahead and edited it before you posted your response.

HC, it is the highest ranked high school in Philadelphia. I think it's also the highest ranked high school in the state of Pennsylvania and the Delaware Valley. It was what? 44th on that US News and World Report list?

The only problem with it is it's small so Central High School may be better known.

You're also a lot further out of high school than I am. Right now TJ is the most impressive thing on my resume. Around here, it's even bigger than Carnegie Mellon. If you were a college student looking for work in Philly then you'd definitely put that down. At this point, though, I don't think it's gonna be doing much legwork for you.

I expect at some point (maybe in a few years) CMU will be bigger for me than TJ, and work experience bigger than both. For the moment, as an undergrad, it's a very helpful thing for me to brag about, however.

Pretty much both. Or is there some kind of undercurrent I'm missing where saying someone from TJ is a ****** specifically offensive for this specific individual?

EDIT: and his bragging about it early and often doesn't help.
