OK, but he calls himself Hauldren Collider here.
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

Hardly. The most practical advice you (or anyone) has ever given him was to give up this quixotic fixation with the Marines.

That should be modified to "Marine Officerdom" since he refuses to enlist.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

This isn't my first job, guys. I've had three summer jobs before this. And I'm in college.

I'm pretty sure you're a sophomore at the ****tiest high school in Northern Virginia.

We've been over this. I kicked ass at OCS last time out but I had fractures. My GPA was the 2nd or 3rd highest in the platoon. I was personally recommended to attend an abbreviated course by the CO, OCS (but MCRD stopped sending NPQ's to the N-ROTC course). I was regularly used by the staff as a demonstration candidate for stuff like setting up the hooches, the racks, etc. Hell, the closest I ever got yelled at down there was when I slid down the rope on the obstacle course instead of taking my time and doing it the safe way and my instructor put a finger in my face and said in a low voice that he didn't want to ever see me come down the rope like that and showed me how to use my feet as a brake (come on! I never got yelled at! At Marine OCS. That's freaking ridiculous). My one instructor who remembered me from the first time kept promising me he would give me a chit and told me he would relish that moment but I never made a mistake.

I know once I go back down there, I will ball out. I know what I am capable of and how much I've grown. My confidence level is at 100%.

My only fault was that I never did well with the peer evaluations (more like spear evals). My fireteam loved me but the rest of my squad except the couple guys I was close to claimed I was too aloof and I didn't go out of my way to help them enough. Whatever. I'm not there to make friends.

I'm 27. I have one shot at being an officer.

This is how everyone knows you're a DL. You wanted to pretend to be a high school student, so you just picked the one at the top of some list.

They're probably all at the age where they can accidentally sit on their own balls

Well, the good news about my ****ty high school is that it was the thing that got me noticed and effectively enabled me to get literally every job I've ever had.

Guy who interviewed me was also a TJ grad. I think that probably helped a lot

I got this OCS thing. Why would I not do it if I know I got it? Reach for the stars.
