    1. Can you express 0.333 repeating as a ratio of two integers?

    2. What is the value of three times 0.333 repeating?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Every proof of this is proving 1 = 1.

Yes, but some ways of going about proving it are more intuitive than others.

I think the most intuitive is express 1/9 as a decimal then multiply by 9. Assuming we can all agree 9/9 = 1

            I was heading that way, using 3/3 = 1.

I can imagine people wondering where the 3s came from.

His proof is that there isn't a number between the two, therefore they're the same number (the real number line is continuous, so two different numbers will always have an uncountably infinite cardinality of numbers in between them)

I know, but it's grade school.

How did he prove that no number comes between them?

Are you playing devil's advocate, or do you suck at math?

.9 recurring does not equal 1 ffs!

Is it really that hard for people to understand that base 10 is not injective with real numbers?

I imagine most people have no idea what injective means. The only reason I do is because I happen to be relearning this stuff right now.

Please explain what injective means so that your post will make sense to a normal person. My web browser thinks it's not spelled correctly and has put a red line under it.
