No, because I know that seeing .9r and 1 as different is pretty ****ing stupid in maths terms, but I've never been able to stop wanting to scream at people over the instinctive irrationality of the whole thing.

Both numbers are rational. If two rational numbers a and b are different, then c=(a+b)/2 exists and is also a rational number. There's no such number for 1 and 0.(9), therefore they are the same.

.999... is a rational number? Please express it as a ratio of two integers.
