  • I guess my theory that he's actually Christopher Hitchens trolling is shot to hell.

Please identify any post in which I have argued that Christ is not the Son of God. Any single one. You won't find it. I only oppose you, and specifically the loony ways you argue for your own twisted version of the faith. I do this because I don't believe God is well served by raving nonsense.

Isn't there something in Christian faith about presuming to know the will of God?

It strikes me that Kid is skating on the edge of an event horizon at several points in this thread?

Umh. I spent over 4 years in a christian school. There was a morning assembly with hymn singing and bible reading most days. I paid not the slightest attention to any of it and often wagged assembly. What did I learn of christian theology? Very little.

I therefore think that merely attending a christian school does not of itself make one any kind of expert on christianity.

A total lack of attention does wonders for the preservation of ignorance.

          • What I do not understand is how Christians, who have been constantly on the losing end of an argument for the last centuries, can still afford to have such a profound arrogance over their standpoint. It's quite baffling...

            • I'll repeat what I told kentonio. You never actually looked for evidence that God exists and you claim that he doesn't because there is no evidence. It's because you are not a skeptic as you claim to be that we are convident.

A few of Jupiter's moons might have life living under their icy surfaces. (The hottest moon, Titan, is probably too volcanically active to have any life on it)
That's Io you're thinking about (the sulphurous volcanic hellhole). The next two, Europa and Ganymede, have water on them, ice mostly, but it is thought that Europa might have liquid underneath a crust of ice, and maybe life (like in the sequels to 2001).

                Titan is Saturn's moon.

If you believe that it,s all chance I refer to my analogy of finding a planet with no intelligent beings but habitations for them. Would you yhink those habitations got there by chance?
So, that's personal incredulity then, and not evidence.

Not coincidentally, millions of Christians and others are ignorant children. Unfortunately, some remain that way even as adults.

                        • Ah, an appeal to the masses. Millions of people think lots of stupid and/or totally unfounded things. Millions of people think vaccines cause autism, for example, despite their only evidence being a long-discredited study by one unethical researcher. The fact that millions of people think such things does not make them any less silly.

                              • Based on this thread alone, calling Kid ignorant is probably the understatement of the year.
