I've never met a vegan who was into homeopathy or believed vaccines cause autism. I have only known two vegans though (one was working on his PhD in Geology and the other worked as a computer scientist). Raw foodies do seem to be rather nuts, they have a much lower level of education, and mostly are retards so I can see them falling for homeopathic nonsense.

Oerdin, your ability to place all the world's ills strictly on the shoulders of conservatives is both incredible and disturbing.

Also the plural of anecdotes is not data, Oerdin.

This idiocy certainly crosses the political spectrum in the UK.
Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
Jon Miller: MikeH is a shockingly revolting dolt and a masturbatory urine-reeking sideshow freak whose word is as valuable as an aging cow paddy.

Congrats, dip****. You just spent $20 on a 50mL vial of water.
What do you tell them? Do you explain to them that it's just water?

              Yes.

              Just like House would.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

You are a moderate. If you were a nutjob you'd be trying to get creationism taught in science classes, be complaining that Obama is a Kenyan born illegal alien, shouting about the secret death panels which are supposedly in the health insurance reform bill, and screaming that Obama is a dictator or other such nonsense. You don't do any of those things ergo you are not a nutjob or at least your nuttiness is confined to listening to that clown Rush Limbaugh.

And you have an aversion to reality. The anti-vaccine thing is pushed primarily by the religious home schooling crowd and the anti-science religious nutters vastly outnumber any other group of crazies we have in this country.

Parents here frequently get their kids together when one catches chickenpox and I believe mumps. The idea as I understand it is that its far, far better to get that **** early than late. Mumps is extremely dangerous to get as an adult male I believe.

I do explain it to them, actually, though not quite in the way House would, as much as I'd like to.

I have similar discussions about the utility of traditional cough/cold medicines, i.e., they ain't worth a bucket of spit, quit wasting your money.

Misconception. Children are every bit as likely--in fact, MORE likely in some respects--to get severe complications (pneumonia, encephalitis, death) from varicella. Mumps, meh, can't say for that as far as kids vs. adults go.
