Considering the fact that Cain is apparently on a book tour and not a serious candidate, how would you arrive at this conclusion?Originally posted by rah View PostAnd the repugs will have "again" missed a golden opportunity.I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

My comment wasn't about Cain but about the inevitable candidate. Any sane non controversial candidate could probably beat Obama. The repugs will find one that can't.Originally posted by DinoDoc View PostConsidering the fact that Cain is apparently on a book tour and not a serious candidate, how would you arrive at this conclusion? It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Have to agree about Cain being on a book tour. I mean even Newt, who is completely broke, has managed to put together get out the vote volunteer teams in the first three primary states but Cain hasn't? Worse, according to the news, he's not even trying to put a ground game together as any serious candidate would. If he's not doing something as basic as that then what are we supposed to conclude other then he's not seriously trying to win? On the other hand he is doing a great job of selling his books and increasing his name recognition and that just has to help him increase his earnings as a motivational speaker. Is he pulling a Sarah Palin and just doing it for the money & fame?Originally posted by DinoDoc View PostConsidering the fact that Cain is apparently on a book tour and not a serious candidate, how would you arrive at this conclusion?Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Are you being serious? Obviously the sole goal was to slip into an otherwise innocuous ad something just perplexing enough that it would have to get immediate press buzz, go viral on the internet, inspire inevitable parodies that will go even more viral, and enhance Cain's name recognition and internet searches about him by orders of magnitude. Shockingly, countless millions of people aren't quite as plugged in to the news as you or I may be, and might never have even read about, or even heard of, this Cain guy until some ne'er-do-well third cousin twice removed sent a "omg lol, check this out, WTF???" email and tweet of the youtube link to every contact under the sun. And best of all, all of this is, you know, 100% free.Originally posted by Dr Strangelove View PostCain's psychotic ad campaign alone might have done that... What the heck was up with Cain's ads? He was president of the Restaurant Association, surely he would know what a decent commercial looks like. Could anyone imagine the smoking manager plugging McDonald's or the fighting cowboy hawking for Arbys?

Then after riding this costlessly self-sustaining tsunami of attention-whoredom for a while, they can go on news shows and claim that the smoking bit was inadvertent and was just the outcome of Cain's terse instruction to "let Block be Block," which throws in the additional value that they're keeping it "real" and not the same phony platitudes that they think voters are sick of. Another small inroad that cost them $0.00.

This is all just baseless speculation of course, but I think you'd have to have been born yesterday to not at least realize that they wouldn't have done this unless it was a carefully calculated move for some definite goals like the above. It's also not going to do a whole hell of a lot of damage in their target demographic, which includes, but is not limited to, a vast wellspring of angry short-order cooks talking politics while tucking down Marlboros out back. The types of upper-class, educated Repugs that would find this ad reckless are the types of Repugs that would vote for Romney anyway, so Cain has little to lose with this stunt and at least something to gain. Plus at least they have a ****ing sense of humor, which is hard to come by in this business.

Oooooooooh, "speculation" that it's Romney and "others saying" it's Perry, versus other baseless speculation that it was from the left. So in other words you have no evidence of anything whatsoever. But don't let that get in the way of a good yarn. While we're at it, why not "speculate" that the victims/teases/whathaveyou simply thought the public ought to know about this before making any rash voting decisions, or they thought that they could get another few paydays out of interviews with the press, or both? There's precisely no less evidence of this theory than yours, but I'm gonna go ahead and blindly believe it anyway, because that sort of thinking is the in thing, right? Holy **** do I hate people.Originally posted by Oerdin View PostI've heard some speculation it is Romney and others saying it is Perry. Either way it was a Republican so Cains "da lib-ur-als are out to get me!" claim sounds retarded.
