I'm getting...
McDonnell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (), the son of Emma (née Meiller) and Lt. Col. John Francis McDonnell.[6] He is of Irish Catholic extraction on his father's side. His family moved to Fairfax County, Virginia () in 1955 when he was one year old."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

His family was smart enough to get the **** out and move to a place that's awesome
He's been in Virginia since he was one. Why on earth did Oerdin think he was a carpetbagger? Truth be told, McDonnell is one of the most moderate Republicans in the state government and is wildly popular. Is it possible for Oerdin to ever say anything nice about any Republican? If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Remember most Evangelicals are luddites and ****ing morons. They still think it is the 1500's and that the 30 years war is still going on. No, they won't get motivated to go out and vote for a not really that conservative ticket with a Mormon and a Catholic on it.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

I'm pretty sure that if McDonnell can win over the social conservatives in Virginia, he can win them in the rest of the south, too. They don't have any problem voting for a catholic. We've moved out of the 60's. Besides, VP picks come after the nomination, when evangelicals don't matter. They'll hold their nose and vote against Obama no matter who's on the Republican ticket. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Hell, most of the die hard wingnuts complain that Northern Virginia isn't even the south any more so Romney's going to have to find a wingnut who lives further south.

I didn't know he moved there as a child but I was right that he was born in Penn. Either way it doesn't matter because he's still a blood sucking papist so he won't inspire the evangelicals and you know it. Romney needs a running mate who will get the evangelicals hot and heavy and a Catholic won't do that. So on the important part, rather than minutia, I'm right and you're wrong and you know it (thus the reason you decided to dwell on minutia).Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

So the Republican Party is about to nominate Mitt Romney, a MORMON, as their nominee for President (believe me, it's going to happen), and Oerdin is carping about the evangelicals in the Republican Party won't nominate a Catholic? When going up against Obama? Seriously?
You realize Rubio is a Catholic too, right? As well as Supreme Court Justices Alito and Scalia (evangelical favorites).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
