  • You asked "how does that make the US different". I answered: it is more adamant and noticeable, because Americans don't get the humility that usually comes with people of less successful countries.
Coming from a frenchman that's hilarious. Also, France isn't imperialist? Talk about a whitewash!

    • Just what defines culture?
The US is considerably more than just Disneyland, McDonalds and Hollywood.
US wine, authors, museums, and artists can hold it's own against any of their FRENCH counterparts.
The french continually make the assumption that since their country is older, it's culture is better. It's just older. They're living on past achievements.

You said "better". Not "more refined".

France just isn't as powerful or successful right now, which means they are arrogant for different reasons.

I don't think you know much about French culture. At least not as much as I know about American culture.

French culture is more interesting because it is less diluted, it does not suffer from a populist bias. And its age does help.

Refinement and quality correlate very well when it comes to culture.

In your opinion. Being snobby is just an attempt to make culture into a status symbol. That doesn't contribute to quality.

I think people are much more likely to bemoan a "populist bias" if they are snobby.

I also think people are more likely to bemoan intellectual bias if they are populist minded.

Both kinds of biases have issues, but guess which one is worse?

Okay, I'm going to guess the "intellectual bias" is objectively worse.

                            • Hey guys, look at the politics you get in the US.

Are the ideas of politicians closer to too simple, or too complex (at least judging from what they say)?
