  • Tevatron is shutting down today.

Good thing we have the Superconducting Super Collider to take its place, right?

Well, with that and the shuttle, Obama's batting 2 for 2. Good thing we don't have a luddite Texan in power, eh?

My wife was in a NSF program and got to tour the Tevatron shortly before it came online, back when she was in high school.

      She reports being saddened.

Wonder how long time it takes to decide, plan and build such things ? Does 5-10 years sound reasonable ? I guess that you are right about luddite texans
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The second most powerful particle accelerator in the world - and the most powerful one in the United States - is shutting down today.

Bad for particle physics in the US, but not bad for particle physics generally. The LHC is there to take its place.

The current administration is supporting commercial efforts to get into space. You should approve.

Additionally, due to budgetary constraints, the DOE was faced with the choice of either continuing to fund Tevatron or funding a number of neutrino-detecting experiments. DOE chose the neutrino experiments. I wonder why DOE had budgetary constraints? :hmm:

The current administration isn't supporting anything besides more money for themselves.

Gee, wouldn't be because Obama jumped up the debt from 60 percent of what the US makes in a year to 100 percent of what the US makes in a year.

Obama's spent more than any other president. The only 'budgetary constraints' are on 'stuff Obama hates', including the Tevatron.
