Also, Orthodox Study bible--I think it's NKJV for NT and a new translation of the Septuagint for the OT.

Personally I prefer the Douay-Rheims bible, which is online, thankfully. Wonderful translation.

I like NRSV (one of the 3 I have is actually a Catholic edition, Ben). It's formal, but not so rigid, it will not make things easier for readability when the direct Greek to English doesn't work.
The NIV is fine as well, but since it is a strictly Protestant translation, it lacks the Apocrypha. I actually wanted a 2011 NIV, but while searching, I came across a "Like New" (on Amazon) Pitt Minion Goatskin NIV, 1984 edition for $30. I couldn't pass that up. The 2011 changes aren't that big anyways (the "major" one being gender inclusive language when appropriate, which the NRSV has had since forever).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

NSRV is quite popular with Catholics. I teach with one. Gets the job done.
For 99 percent of what I do the NIV is good enough. Used to own one, gave it away. It was a gift from a friend.
Since then I've not had a paper bound bible.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.
