    One needn't be an elite to be elitist. As I said, there is nothing wrong with elitism so long as it is earned.
    Am I wrong to think that earning it is getting the most votes? That is being elite?

    • 1) Getting the most votes does not mean you get elected, see: 2000.

      2) I'm not entirely sure what you're driving at here; maybe it's a semantic thing.

        The point is that voting for someone who isn't more qualified than the average individual would be stupid.

          You didn't answer my question. Don't you earn the right to be president by getting the most electorial votes. Is this what you mean or is it something else?

            Do you mean like it would be stupid for me to vote for an atheist since they don't understand my religion?

            • 1) Understanding your religion is not in the purview of the office of President of the United States.

              2) Every US citizen has the "right" to be President; only a very small number should ever aspire to said office, none of whom are amongst the current crop of candidates.

                  If by elitist you mean I think facts and reality should be used instead of opinions which are contrary to facts and reality then, yes, or if you mean that experts who have studied a subject for years should have more of a say on the policy of that subject (like Doctors should advise medical policies because they have special training and expertise in that area and the same can be said about scientists wrt their specific field). I don't see that as elitist though and instead simply call it good governance.

                    How then are they qualified to represent me. Isn't the ability to represent me a qualification I should look for?

                    It seems to me that those in the current crop have a good chance to win. Is anyone qualified who can't win?

                      You are clearly an elitist. So why do have a problem with a candidate calling liberals elitists?

                      • I see the light now, Kid. We should kick the doctors out of the hospitals and replace them with truck drivers who never finished high school and who know nothing about the field of medicine. I'm positive there will be no negative health effects from this new policy.

                          Jon Huntsman is qualified and can't win. Michele Bachmann is unqualified but has double digit support.

                            Unqualified = I don't like them.

                            Cool. How about we have a real discussion about the merits of all the candidates? We get it that you don't like Bachmann. Thankfully that makes her more, not less qualified. That you like Huntsman, means that he's a squish and won't actually represent republicans.

                                Don't be an ass. My point is simply that you are full of ****. I've made no such other judgement as you are claiming.
