  • You are a hopeless liar who is not worth my time. You're perfect for Texas.
I bet CA's 2010 deficit alone is higher than all of TX's shortfalls, combined.

The difference is about 2k between the average earnings per Canadian, than the state of Michigan.
I'm sorry, did you just take the purchasing power parity GDP per capita of Canada and claim it doesn't account for cost of living?

        • Hrm? PPP doesn't adjust enough.

Here's another little tidbit. TX debt per capita is just 500 bucks per person. CA's is 2.5k

That's not an apples to apples comparison...

            Alberta debt per capita: $0
Texas debt per capita: $500 (using your numbers, who knows if they're real)

            Canada debt per capita: $13,643
            USA debt per capita: $38,466.74

              • PPP doesn't adjust enough? WTF? It results in... wait for it... complete purchasing power parity.

                • As your own source says:

We noticed the Moody’s per-capita figures were smaller than those reached using the census data. That’s because the census bureau’s state debt totals wrap in more kinds of debt--for example, tuition revenue bonds issued on behalf of institutions of higher education. The bureau defines its debt tally as "long-term credit obligations of the government and its agencies whether backed by the governments' full faith and credit or non-guaranteed
Moody's puts it at 619 right now, which is right in line with what I said. Funny that. Even your own source says you are full of ****.

For the US as a whole vs CDN as a whole. Individual difference between states far outwiegh the differences between the two countries.

You are not comparing the same things. How am I "full of ****" when the number I quote is explicitly referenced in the article as the debt per capita?

Moody's figure is a subset of the actual debt numbers. Moody's only covers "net tax-supported debt", which is a subset. My number comes from the census bureau with the same criteria as the other numbers listed, so that is the only fair comparison.

                      From the article:

                      • For the record, 500 is not 619 so you were not right by any definition.

                        • What? In what world is 500 not 619? Where did you say that you went to school?

These numbers do change over time.

That's not what you said before, is it? Funny how your tune changes when you get called out. You can argue that one is more valid than the other, but that doesn't mean that I'm comparing apples to oranges, when I used the same measure for both. Nor does it mean that my number was unsupported or unverified, when your own source actually confirms what I said. How about we step back a bit and look at the important fact that TX is lower under both calibrations?

So in what year was it 500?

WTF? Do you even pretend to be in the same discussion as other people anymore? You have this whole conversation going in your head that simply does not exist in reality. This statement of yours is a prime example. WTF are you talking about?

You most certainly did not use the same measure for both. You used government figures for Canada's debt and Moody's for Texas'. They do not measure the same thing.

It is most certainly higher than Alberta in both figures (prov vs state comparison), and USA is certainly far higher than Canada (nation vs nation comparison).
