    Good luck with that.

The state can tax anything - even religious corporations no matter when they were founded.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Yes, the tax code isn't flawed as long as the entire economy doesn't shut down. That is a very sensible argument.

What a ****ing moron. Go play with your library books, you halfwit.

To be fair, Buffett's argument is then content-free as well.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Yep, it certainly is. What is insanely stupid is to think that taxation kills activity.

By what right? The powers of the state derive from the foundation of the state. The US does not have an established church, ergo they forgo taxation authority over the Church. The Church has been here a very long time.

                        • By the rigth of law.
The US was not the one who granted the land to the Church. Elsewhere, yes, but not here. The rule of law prevents the state from revoking pre-existing contracts.

KH you are clearly an idiot. There are incentives and then there are stupid incentives - you seem to prefer the latter wich doesn't provide anything.

                            • KH, the argument against double taxation is often a fairness argument (it's not fair the government taxes me twice!!) As reasonable economic argument are made I'd be happy to discuss those on said terms
Ultimately corporate and capital gains taxes are incredibly difficult to actually do in a way that is both economically efficient, 'fair', and generate adequate revenue. I don't find it terribly surprising our government has failed to do so, given its own lack of efficiency...
