The ones who are "taking one for the team" are the people who need medicaid. Why the **** would you be happy about poor people losing healthcare?

Obama doesn't have to do anything if he runs against Perry or Bachmann. They hurt themselves.

          • There's still a lot of time. Predicting who wins a presidential election is essentially like predicting markets. (Not just because the direction of the markets around election time is going to play a huge role. Remember that there can be extended rallies even in recessions/depressions.)

How did everything go downhill? wars + Bush Tax Cuts + Obama medicine + Saving banks ??

They just said on the news that Gold as of today is more expensive than platinum
The wars didn't really have much impact.

It's increased spending in the last two years of Clinton + recession + Bush spending/Medicare reform + not dealing with solvency of social programs (Medicare & Social Security) + severe recession + Obama ineffective stimulus and other spending + a little bit of Obama medicine.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I frankly think the tax cuts were a good idea, especially the capital gains cuts and so forth. The only problem with them is that they weren't accompanied by spending cuts.

                      • It doesn't matter if you think they were a good idea or not. It's a simple fact that the tax cuts worsened the fiscal position of the US government.

                            WTF? Can you even read?

One produces a forecast for the overall, or macro, economy, while another uses economic inputs to forecast the national popular vote. At the moment, he says, the data augurs well for the president.

The model certainly suggests that if the economy is good and improving as an election approaches, it’s very difficult to defeat an incumbent president,” he said. At the root of his conclusion is an economic forecast: he expects a significant improvement in the American economy by 2012.

                              Hell yes!

The people affected by those cuts could barely live until the taxes were cut. Now they can thrive, while the rest of the country chokes on debt.

Great idea! American to its core.

Macroeconomic forecasts are nothing like predicting markets, you moron. Fair's presidential election prediction model has an extremely high success rate.
