What the **** is wrong with you all?

The stupidity of this waltz towards defaulting is enthralling, amusing, and tantalizing.

Question: Will my mortgage rate be lower if the US defaults? I need some perspective here.

The market disagrees with your assessment that this is a waltz toward default. CDS spreads on US Treasuries are below those on German Bunds or UK Gilts.

It's quite simple, Asher--American government favors political gridlock in order to promote compromise. We've had this discussion before...

How good is the market at predicting political risk? I suppose if that were something that people knew the market would just adjust, but still, it seems like not really a thing markets would be great at predicting.

So is he saying it's more of a tango, or just a conga line?

How good is the market at predicting anything, really?

The market predicted the demise of the dot-com boom pretty well.

Better than you. Or Asher. Or anybody else really.

Feel free to try your hand at it if you think you can do better, by the way.

                              I thought that when I got in at 4.3%. Now it's 3.8%.

I don't have to make a final judgment call til January.
