  • The ABC article never said anything about whether life expectancy is a good measure of the quality of healthcare.
So then why are you accusing me of wanting to make an argument to parrot what ABC says? That would be you.

    Did you even read it?
    Did you?

    • Gribbler, Ben gave up on looking good many years ago.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

        Did you?
I'm accusing you of being a worthless conservatard who doesn't care if an argument makes any sense as long as it fits his beliefs. Why would I claim you parroted an article that says hispanics have a higher life expectancy which may be because of better diet and/or less smoking?

        • it's obvious that whites in Canada live longer than whites in the US.
Then why is there no data on it?

Why would you cite statistics that don't even exist?
I cite stats that if disproven would show me to be automatically wrong. When you can't find the data needed to disprove my position, and counter my counter assertion, then that weakens your position.

Because you assumed I didn't read the article. Next.

Statistically, liberals are smarter than conservatives. What, you think I should provide evidence for my statistical claim? Sorry, the burden of proof is on you to prove me wrong.

Also, I've already explained that unless it is possible that visible minorities in Canada could have a life expectancy of over 90 years, white Canadians could not possibly live lives that are as short on average as white Americans. It is extremely unlikely that your statistical claim, which you didn't even have a shred of evidence for when you pulled it out of your ass, could be true.

I didn't assume you didn't read it. I came to that conclusion when you started attributing things to it that weren't actually there. Like your claim that the article thought life expectancy is an indicator for the quality of a healthcare system.

Unfortunately for you, my claim is falsifiable. Simply citing a source which stated the white life expectancy in Canada would do it.

Only if you assume that the figure cited for white americans does not include hispanics (which it does). Or, if you conclude that hispanic americans live longer, which hasn't been proven, could this assertion be correct.

At present, you've not proven this assertion either.

                    Actually,

he'll start stressing the importance of lifestyles and how life expectancy doesn't prove anything.
Is what you said, to which I argued that the article says this.

Your reading comprehension seems to be lacking today.

Any honest person wouldn't make such a statistical claim if they didn't have a source that supported their claim. It's common knowledge on this forum that you are not honest, but at least no one mistakenly believes your claim now.

If a person had anecdotal experience to the contrary, then yes, it's entirely possible for that person to make the argument sans statistical confirmation.

Actually I'm bemused by how resilient this apparently easily falsifiable statement has withstood scrunity.

                        • You explicitly said that "statistically, white Americans live longer than white Canadians". Use of the word "statistically" means you're not basing your claim on anecdotes. Maybe you don't know what the word means. That wouldn't be a first.

Actually, I believed this to be a case of something statistically similar to an unrelated phenomenon. I'm not sure now if I was correct in believing this, and if proven wrong, would be glad to know this. But making the argument that this is 'obviously so', has no force. I actually thought that NYE had disproven it, until I dug through his numbers and realised they didn't have the breakdown by race.

After that I've just been counterpunching like Lleyton Hewitt.

                              • So Ben thinks visible minorities in Canada have a life expectancy of over 90 years. That's a lot higher than anywhere else where black, brown or yellow people live, of course.
