  • What's more amazing is that my entire position was explained by Engels with the same points in an unfinished manuscript that I have never read. I don't know where I learned it (or put the dots together from knowledge of history) but this view of the decline of feudalism is well-established in academia.

What are you talking about? Is this how a deaf person would try to say "Albert is so gay. So gay."????

                • Thanks. I've heard it pronounced as "segway" before but hopefully Al will take note of your spelling correction.

                  • It can be but if you pronounce it say guay, it's a good way to avoid the homophone. And that's how it would be said as a frenchie word.

                      no it doesn't you liar.

i notice that you concede the point about civilian casualties increasing. i even provided a link which clearly stated that may 2011 was a 'record' month for civilian casualties.

That suggests to me that the problem is Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, it's all his fault.

great analysis ben. really insightful as always.

                      • So you don't believe that changing the rules of engagement has any effect on the overall stability of Afghanistan?

Your source includes deaths due to natural causes as 'civilian casulties'. So it's worthless.

                        • it's the strategy that's failed. i have already explained my views on this. why are you fannying around at the edges instead of addressing the big issues?

please show me where, exactly, my source includes deaths due to natural causes ben. this should be good...

I did, to which you promptly dismissed them rather then discussing them.

Oh, btw, still waiting for your answer to the question as to how the goals of afghanistan are supposed to happen with giving up. How does giving up help anything, especially the people in Afghanistan?

                            • you didn't discuss them ben. you ignored the meat of the argument and then said everything is obama's fault, which is obviously rubbish. we've never got the strategy right. it's not the failure of any one politician, it's a wretched caterlog of failures by many politicians and generals.

the goals of afghanistan (what are the goals these days, it's hard to keep up)? i don't think that they, such as they are, can be achieved. i think we are making things worse by being there. i have provided clear evidence to this effect.

i've already asked you how you think they might be achieved, and your response boiled down "just keep believing, never mind the evidence. let's close our eyes and pretend that this massive hole will go away if we just keep digging. progress is just around the corner."

                              • So let's see... "I think Obama is totally incompetent and the soaring civilian casualties is his fault, but I don't think he should pull out of Afghanistan. Also I call myself a pacifist."
