True, but in general income taxes are almost always progressive and sales taxes are flat. So there is an incentive to work harder because you will benefit more. Once you are over your basic spending needs, sales tax only jurisdictions are much better.

If you've conceded that a flat income tax is functionally equivalent to a flat sales tax then I'm done. If you're arguing that a flat tax is better than a progressive one than your position has macro-evolved into a different species.

Why would I concede the point when you've never acknowledged that, all else being equal, the interest-free loan is huge. Not being able to use your money in that time is a substantial hindrance, one not present with a sales tax.

If the government wasn't taking interest-free loans from people it would just have to tax at a higher official rate to compensate for more interest paid on its debt. Unless you lack access to credit I don't see how it's a major blow to your well-being.

As for a public university, I was awarded scholarships and I paid my fees to the public university through work. I owed nothing when I eventually got my degree from a different public institution. The only insistance that the CDN government has is that I repay all outstanding loans, which I have done. They do not hold me, nor any student responsible for the fees incurred by the university's operation costs.

A huge portion of your university cost is paid for by the public. Your tuition is not the only income for the school. The public paid for you to get a useless degree.

It's very easy to meet the requirements to teach in private schools in Texas. In fact, it's probably easier than trying to become a public school teacher since you usually don't need a teaching degree or state certification.

I'm not sure if it's even legal to ask personal questions about an applicant's religious beliefs (or lack thereof) but I have seen it many times for certain Christian private schools.

The argument that one tax policy is inferior to the other wrt to the well-being of it's citizens. And it's not clear to me that the government actually benefits wrt revenues through income tax.

I have a history degree and prior relevant experience. That is sufficient qualification to teach in a private institution in TX. I have never claimed to have attended teacher's college.
