So the extremists aint the aholes murdering in God's name, its the guy burning their divine license to murder in God's name? The United Nations mission in Afghanistan has been thrown into jeopardy after protesters enraged by the burning of the Qur'an by a Christian extremist in the US stormed a UN compound in the north of the country and killed a number of foreign staff members.
The Koran burner need not be a Christian, just anyone with a Koran and a need for light or warmth - or a disgust for Islam.

I see no reason to believe that we can kill our way out of this. "Bombing the **** out of an entire province most certainly would create far more problems than it solved. Atrocities usually do.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View Post
Wezil's figured it out.
If we're going to remain in afghanistan, we should be there to try to **** up the Taliban. But the Taliban are in Pakistan. So we need to end this nation-building nonsense and bomb the ****ing **** out of Waziristan to try to do as much damage to the terrorists before political issues force us to pull out. War ends, and we don't spend billions to promote drug crime and corruption in a tribal, savage society.

You are talking to an idiot who blindly supports the israeli way of dealing with conflict.Originally posted by Braindead View PostI see no reason to believe that we can kill our way out of this. As long as that little spolied piece of **** nests safely under the wings of his parents disdain should be the only answer to him."Ceterum censeo Ben esse expellendum."

That sucks. Seriously though, why on Earth would she go to Afghanistan? If she want to help people than surely she could have found some who weren't blood thirsty savages who want to kill everyone who isn't from their primitive tribe? You know, someone who actually deserves to be helped.Originally posted by Nikolai View PostOne of the women killed was my mum's childhood friend...

Have the Japanese threatened Australia or any of their neighbors in the past 60 years? Have the Germans invaded Belgium recently? Until the Army Air Corps and RAF bombed the crap out of those two countries, they were perennial problems. Now they're model world citizens.Originally posted by Braindead View PostI see no reason to believe that we can kill our way out of this. Bombing the **** out of savages has calmed them down in the past. Maybe it's worth trying again.John Brown did nothing wrong.

It depends on the savages. The Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor only aggravated the Americans, while the American bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima cowered the Japanese.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. Not so long ago, there were people who claimed black people have the "curse of Ham" and God wanted them to be enslaved...Originally posted by Barnabas View PostI would say that convincing people that all humans were equal was a good thing Religion did.
Not so long ago, a lot of atheistic scientists believed otherwise, influenced by darwinism. And that only ended because of world war 2. Before that war, anthropologists traveled aroudn the world measuring the body parts of non whites with calipers, people talked openly of more and less evolved races, and eugenics were quite acceptable.

I'd say the Japanese were a tad more savage than the Americans in World War II. Just ask the Filipinos. Or the Chinese. Or the Koreans. Or any of the American POWs. Or the Japanese themselves.Originally posted by DaShi View PostIt depends on the savages. Abolitionism was prompted by religion as well. Quakers, Bartolome de las Casas, and evangelicals were early leaders in the anti-slavery movement.Originally posted by gribbler View PostNot so long ago, there were people who claimed black people have the "curse of Ham" and God wanted them to be enslaved...
The anti-religion trolls are downright silly. You guys come across like those sixties propagandists who couldn't distinguish between Soviet and Chinese communism. You seem to think that you're clever, but all your arguments are trite and fundamentally flawed.John Brown did nothing wrong.

I don't see you lashing out at Barnabas because he offered a cherrypicked example of nonreligious racism... the fact that religion was used by both sides of the slavery debate with equal fervor kind of suggests that religion wasn't a major factor in whether someone supported or opposed equality of human beings.Originally posted by Felch View PostAbolitionism was prompted by religion as well. Yeah, my whole point is that judging people based on whether they're religious is ****ing retarded. Atheists and Theists are still living in the same world and facing the same problems. They'll respond to those problems in pretty much the same way, and religion is more likely to be part of the rationalization than the actual reason.John Brown did nothing wrong.
