Why are people so funny about veal? It's really stupid because it makes veal incredibly hard to get hold of, at least in the UK...

Why are people averse to veal? It's basically beef, but more tender. It's not like you're offering them cat meat.

Veal is more expensive than most cuts of steak though. Veal is like what? $4.50/lb?

Ribeye is $10/lb on sale, so I'm guessing that veal is not $4.50/lb

Where the **** do you shop?

Ribeye is at most ~$8/lb regular price.

Okay it might be an issue of cuts...

                Veal patties: $4.59/lb
                Veal shoulder chops: $3.99/lb
                Veal cutlets: $9.99/lb

I would be very dubious of its quality, at that price.

I shop outside of Philadelphia, so the ribeye I purchase is less than 5% lead and arsenic

I really doubt food in Philadelphia is different from other places in this country?

Modern UK Rose veal is fine, but it used to be produced by crating, which was a pretty unpleasant process. Still hasn't been banned everywhere in the US.

Arguably no worse than battery chickens or intensive pig farming though.

The pasta with peppers was a hit.

                                Some notes...
Do not skimp on the pepper, salt, or cheese
Not much olive oil is needed
1 lb of pasta is a hell of a lot of pasta
I diced the garlic cloves and it was very strong, so either mince the garlic or dice it into smaller pieces
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
