  • I never once said Harper was too tough on crime. I said he was stupid on crime.

Also, I am not denying anyone redemption. Some deeds preclude you from further actions in life. If I rack up 5 fraud convictions I would be kicked out of the Law Society. I suppose I would also be deemed ill suited for high level political work as well. You makes your choices.

Only reason Ben is back is the Canucks in the playoffs.

He'll be gone again in a couple weeks.

              How timely.

The Conservative election campaign is scrambling to deal with the fallout of a bombshell draft report from the Auditor-General rife with concern about pork-barrel largesse, dubious spending and misinforming Parliament.

The confidential draft by Sheila Fraser concludes the government misinformed Parliament to win approval for a $50-million G8 fund that lavished money on questionable projects in Industry Minister Tony Clement's riding. And it suggests the process by which the funding was approved may have been illegal.

              ...

Among the questionable projects funded were:

» $274,000 on public toilets 20 kilometres from the summit site.

              » $100,000 on a gazebo an hour's drive away.

» $1.1-million for sidewalk and tree upgrades 100 kilometres away.

              » $194,000 for a park 100 kilometres away.

» $745,000 on downtown improvements for three towns nearly 70 kilometres away.

              • If they are true to form the Conservatives will begin the character assassination of Ms. Frasier in about 5 minutes.

Mr. Clement's riding is a very long way from the border.

                      • I'm absolutely gobsmacked it would be so high in the first place. "I've met the public, and the public is stupid."

That said, I'm convinced this election will be decided tomorrow night.

Harper is a skilled debater and a majority is within his grasp if he does well.

I don't know how well Iggy debates but I do know he is not Dion. With Harper finally accessible it will be a chance to lay some serious blows.

                        Should be good.

                        • Still nothing from any of these deadbeat politicians on the coffee issue.

Starting Monday, Tim Hortons will increase the prices of some of its products, The Canadian Press reports.

The beloved Canadian coffee and doughnut chain has announced there will be a "small price increase" on some of its menu items starting on April 11. Though the company has not specified which food items will see a price hike, in a statement released Tuesday, Tim Hortons did say the price of a large cup of coffee is expected to rise seven cents.

                          It's Monday already.
