I never read the book, because it was supposed to be incredibly long, extremely tediously written, and possibly in some places creepy (was it this one or The Fountainhead that had the hero raping the heroine and her loving him for it?). Why is this being made? There aren't that many Randroids or libertarians--do you suppose somebody in Hollywood is banking on big Tea Party support, or what? I'm scratching my head here.

Okay, Wiki says the book has enjoyed a surge in popularity lately...in the sense that it once hit #33 on Amazon. That at least makes this silliness plausible. Except I just read that the novel concludes with a seventy-page speech outlining Objectivism. Fun times!

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

A friend recommended it back in uni but I just never got round to it.

I read Atlas Shrugged, The Fountain Head and We the Living when I was in primary school. I enjoyed them at the time. They made sense when I read them. Later, when I was older, I realised the whole philosophy was a crock of smelly brown stuff.
I can recommend these books to anyone who is either too young or too stupid to understand them.
Give them a miss if your not young enough or insufficiently stupid.
