Don't worry! Texas is chopping K-12 funding by 13%, which I'm sure will only improve the situation.

My lord, what scares me is this is the generation that will take care of us when we get old.

Laugh it up, I've had Swedish friends of the family who moved to Northern VA because the military sent Dad to the Embassy tell me that Virginia High Schools are "much harder" than the Swedish equilivant.

This was in my senior year at Robinson HS. Dad was a Swede, mom was from Brazil originally, and both were HS-age girls.

How many here would be willing to sponsor a child's education at the low low cost of 460/month?

I know right wing extremists, that is the Republican base, are mad that schools can no longer endorse Christianity as they used to do in the backwards states but they're taking their retarded vendetta too far when they claim public schools should be phased out. I know, stupid people vote Republican so they want more people to be stupid, but, that's still not a good reason to get rid of schools. "They don't let us make everyone pray in their godless schools, and we want more people like us around instead of those smarty pants liberals... Oh, and you might have to sit next to a Negro or a nonfundamentalist Christian if you go to one of their schools so don't ever let your kids go." See, those aren't sound arguments yet some how the morons have captured control of the Republican Party and are convinced we should close all public schools and universities. ****ing nut jobs.

The question in the OP is something of a no-brainer. Does anyone care to speculate on how U.S. public schools might be improved?

Right wing conservatives are constantly calling for the abolition of the department of education and all Federal education spending.
