There's apparently 820,000 abortions per year in the US for the last time this number was available (2005).

You think the state should be raising these kids? That can't be a healthy environment. It's bound to breed psychopaths and people with severe mental and social disabilities at enormous cost to the state.

This is coming from the person that spent a 20 page thread insisting that no matter the economic cost it was critical the government fulfill its moral duty and provide everyone with healthcare. Doublethink? Or just inconsistency? I can't decide.

I believe handguns, and specifically handguns with extended clips for maximum killing, are designed specifically to kill or harm other human beings. I don't see what value they bring to society at all. I believe it's in the public interest that these are actively removed from society.

I see abortion as a decision a couple (or a woman) makes of their own accord with no impact on society. The only potential impact here is if the fetus comes to term and the child ends up a ward of the state for 18 years. I don't see that as a public benefit.

By the way, I don't judge people by what they MIGHT BECOME. I judge them by who they are, and believe everyone should get a chance to prove themselves first.

Really, DinoDoc? It's people who believe that women should have access to publicly-funded, publicly-maintained, publicly-staffed facilities for abortions that are responsible for third-world conditions in illicit abortion facilities? Really?

Neither. And it wasn't "no matter the economic cost", it's always within reasonable costs. The fact is the costs are very reasonable with proven benefits to society. A healthier society is a more productive society.

Injecting 800,000 wards of the state into the population every year is not giving us a healthier society or a more productive society. It's dramatically increasing expenses of the state to raise children in an environment we know to be terrible at raising productive members of society.

It made about as much sense as your statement that HC's beliefs and those that subscribed to them were responsible for the light regulation of abortion clinics that led situations like this to thrive.

You pretend to be outraged at the OP, then you get shocked that some people don't want to see conditions like that...

                        No, that makes perfect sense.

When you make abortions illegal, the women that get them have to go to shady places to get it done. That's precisely the way **** like the OP happen.

That would never, ever happen in a place where women could get abortions legally and practically.

Edit: Similar logic to the war on drugs. You make drugs illegal, it makes it more dangerous. People need to buy marijuana from dealers who may or may not be very shady, who may or may not have a contaminated product. If you made it legal to sell marijuana at pharmacies, suddenly you have higher standards.

Abortions are legal in PA but apparently lightly regulated. That's not a pro-life position.

No, not all abortions are legal in PA.

And it's neither a pro-life/pro-choice position about regulation.

The regulation part, again, lies at the feet you and your ilk. If you had a public health system, you also wouldn't have this kind of problem. It's what private medical care can get you.

Yes, you're right. They have a gestational limit on abortion as most other industrialized nations do. What's your point? Do you even have one?

I can guarantee you that if my ilk had there way in PA abortion clinics would have much more oversight than hair salons rather than the situation that currently exists.

I'm finding it very difficult to identify my point.

What could I possibly be trying to talk about? The fact that some abortions are illegal...and when you make things illegal, they happen in shady, underground places. I can't quite connect them.

I thought they simply wouldn't exist?
