But it's not a democracy if they vote to do stuff we don't like. Duh!

    • Oh, and the list of countries where democracy is workable is the list of countries where the people want self-determination enough to fight for it themselves.

          • I just sort of passed over that, automatically substituting "congress" for WH.

            • The news takes a while to reach Wales.

Just wait till he hears Bush won a second term.

Preventing democratic rule? Don't be stupid. The argument here is that America owes the Egyptian people the same thing they gave the Iranian people during their uprising: silence.

                • It's a little different in Egypt than Iran. The US gives a couple billion dollars a year to Egypt, as an example.

Anyway, the Republicans want to cut the deficit as quickly as possible, so why not cut the money to Israel? Seems like a win-win situation to me.

You don't have the first clue about the situation in Egypt. In fact the only reason the fearmongering that you're talking about is even conceivable is because the US has been propping up a dictator for the last 30 years, you ****ing ******...

What exactly do you envision happening in a sudden collapse of the Mubarak regime when the largest and best organized opposition group is the Muslim Brotherhood which gave birth to Hamas? Sweetness and light?
