You may as well reveal on the 1st. If they are very sick they are unlikely to make it to 2012 for next year's team.

Ah, I misunderstood and thought you meant not previously chosen by that player. That does throw an interesting wrinkle into it and give you an "out". PM'd the name and news to you, regardless.

I did mean by that player.

My work around would be similar to my team submission. I choose my final substitution on the 30th (a day early) and it can't be anyone already on any list. You guys then send your final sub on the 31st and it can't be a name already on your list.

Small disadvantage to me but acceptable.

Well, it was just revealed today that a certain fairly well-known figure is under treatment for a fairly rare and generally nasty form of cancer, though details are scarce and he/she may have several years left.
