Heard some news today that would have impacted my list had I waited.

I have a unique pick (my #1) that I am amazed is still a unique pick. I thought they would be on many lists this year.

I doubt a ruling for substitution would threaten your unique pick. This news is apparently fresh, as I heard it on the radio today.

Seriously, not a big deal either way for me. If we have to stand pat, I'm fine, and if we can substitute to the deadline, I'll just put this one at the top and bump the rest down a notch. I don't recall seeing this come up before, though, and don't know how it's been handled if it has.

The rules don't expressly address this issue although the inference from the rules is that a team is set once submitted. That said:

1) The last thing I ever want to do is encourage everyone to file on the last day as this would make my workload very heavy all at once. Early entries are appreciated so I don't want to handicap people for doing so. This is an important point I think.
2) Amending lists would require more admin work.
3) I personally would be prohibited from making changes as I have seen all lists. Keep in mind, I have to prepare my team before everybody else.

I can appreciate your willingness to stand pat and realise you aren't making a fuss but I'd like to open the floor for comments from the other players.

I'm considering a rule change to allow for one brand new substitution to be made on Dec 31st (you can choose not to, but if you do they must be a celeb not on original list of 25)

In the interest of fairness to those that submitted teams and may not return before the 31st I think it should be a change for next season.

Yeah, your first two considerations crossed my mind. Hadn't thought about the third, but maybe that's just part of the price you pay for the glory of running the pool . I like the compromise rule you proposed. One sub seems like it should be plenty, and limits the burden on the admin. If we change it for next year, maybe I'll spill the beans when the game thread goes up.

Since I'm proposing the substitution be a not previously chosen celeb I may be able to work around issue #3.


You may as well reveal on the 1st. If they are very sick they are unlikely to make it to 2012 for next year's team.

I'm curious to know who you are thinking of. PM me the name and I'll let you know if anyone has chosen them.

No, but solomwi knows of a "fell down the stairs" celeb. Someone just recently revealed to be sick I presume.

We did have one early death. I believe it was OzzyKP that picked Holbroooke (and he was one of my subs).

Two players have picked dead people.

Not that I know of. This is a case where news came to light which, had it been known (or happened) earlier, would have put someone onto my list, and likely others.
