VISTA, CALIF. — An actor who appeared in the film The 40-Year-Old Virgin was sentenced Thursday to life in prison with possible parole in 12 years for stabbing his ex-girlfriend more than 20 times when he stopped by her home unannounced and found her with another man.

Shelley Malil was sentenced by San Diego County Superior Court Judge Harry Elias three months after a jury convicted the actor of attempted premeditated murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The victim, Kendra Beebe, suffered punctured lungs and wounds to her neck, chest, back and arms in the 2008 attack.

Death of a career doesn't count but death in prison does.

Since I'm not in last years pool I hope everyone on my list will hold on until the new year. They say people like to hang on for the holidays and then pass away shortly thereafter!

Apparently Christmas is a big killer:

A new U.S. analysis of mortality rates during different times of year found that people are more likely to die during the holidays — notably on Christmas and New Year’s Day — and researchers cannot explain the yearly spike.

After analyzing all official United States death certificates over the 25-year period between 1979 and 2004, a trio of sociologists identified an excess of 42,325 natural deaths — that is, above and beyond the normal seasonal winter increase — in the two weeks starting with Christmas.
