It'd probably take an hour or so to go through to the linked websites and determined what each of them did.

Or they could just look at job postings for each company, which usually tells you exactly what they make. Raytheon regularly trolls for software developers to work on "real-time guidance systems". Wonder what that's for.

General Dynamics has lots of jobs pertaining to field communication systems and cryptography (Ada experience a plus ). Dunno what that's all about!

This is called intelligence. It is what people who want to strike at their enemies find extremely valuable. Real countries employ thousands in the gathering and evaluation of such information. Canada even has a few people doing it. AQ does not have so much in the way of resources. Assange just gave them a road map.

Really? It strikes me as stupidity.

None of those were vital to national security and none of them make things that can't be made elsewhere. What likely happened was some attache in Canada (who was likely appointed because of political donations he made to support the winning political party's bid for office) was tasked with creating such a list, they created a quasi-random list taking a handful of each critical sector and called it a day.

I don't see how the optical systems for an AGM-130 (which has fallen out of favour with the US military anyway as it's not fire-and-forget) is any more important than the companies manufacturing components for the JSF, or supplying critical communications infrastructure to the US military -- all of which exist in Canada.

Not to mention that a quick googling will show you that the AGM-130 optical systems can also be (and were originally) made in France.

Here's the clue.

Threre were a couple thousand military targets, and several thousand more civilian, in Great Britain for the Germans to bomb in 1940.

It is a famous example of the importance (and failure) of military intelligence that the Germans stopped bombing ~20 fighter (? number from memory) bases in Southern England and moved on to cities and other non-critical military targets when they had the RAF within a week or so of defeat.

The importance of targets. Get it?

Yes, all of the truly important targets were already known.
Yes, you are being dense to cover for taking a stupid, histrionic position initially that you've no doubt calmed down from but lack the spine to admit to.

It's absolutely no secret that a couple strikes could cut off the western US from natural gas and the much of eastern US from electricity. It's no secret that attacking a nuke plant would cause a big ****ing problem. It's no secret that Canada manufactures components for many of America's weapons -- but all of this information can EASILY be gleaned by anyone who cared to use the ****ing internet.

You are being immensely stupid by assuming that no one in the middle east knows how to use google. And/or no one there takes the time to research targets.

You act like they are ****ing cavemen that are incapable of anything, but now that they've got this questionable list derived by someone clearly clueless they've got a roadmap to victory.
