  • Have you seen the list?

I've seen the list of the high-value Canadian targets they've identified, and they are all 100% obvious. Like the Darlington Nuclear Power Plant near the US border, which also provides power to the US eastern seaboard...or the oil and natural gas pipelines from Alberta which provide the western USA with most of their energy, etc. Or even the vaccine factories in Canada that the US depends on for many vaccines.

None of these are secret or non-obvious.

Can you provide an example of non-obvious facilities in the list with hidden locations?

Any highschooler could identify those "targets" as valuable. It sounds like a job they give interns to do...

Nuclear power plants? YOU DON'T SAY! I'd no idea those were high-value targets until that list came out.

Oil pipelines too????? What's next, CRITICAL UNDERSEA CABLES??? Is nothing secret???

      ... and vaccine production facilities.

The value of the list for people who would want to cause disruption is that the Americans themselves consider the list to be sensitve targets. It's a blueprint of bottlenecks and difficult to replace facilities.

The fact that almost zero of them have been targeted to date should dispel your idea that the list has no value to 'the bad guys.'

      • Furthermore, since when is Asher (or Wikileaks) the judge of what needs to be secret and what doesn't?

While the military tends to err on the side of caution (i.e. too much secrecy), I get the feeling that have at least a vague idea of what they're doing.

Yes, publicly known facilities owned by public corporations...all of which is already public.

I'm revealing no state secrets when I will say I worked right next to one of Canada's largest vaccine production facilities in Scarborough. It's such a secret, that they have massive ****ing billboards outside stating this fact. Top secret stuff.

This is the dumbest piece of logic I've ever seen come out of an Edmontonian, which is truly saying a lot.

Huh? I'm saying none of this IS secret. The fact that it was on a document marked by some bureaucrat as "SECRET" doesn't make it so.

You think that Osama doesn't think your nuclear plants are a target? You think he doesn't know where they are?

            Are you guys serious?

              • I suspect that you have very little idea of the subject under discussion.

There are many medical research and production facilities across Canada. One or two are singled out as critical.

Do you not understand the value to an enemy of having 'please don't attack this' signs put up above one in fifty facilites?

                • Even more important than their existence is the fact that the US government think they're important and/or difficult to replace. We don't know how Al Qaeda prioritizes its targets, but now they know how the US government does, and they know exactly what we consider to be top-priority. That's a significant piece of information. They can predict us perfectly, but we can't predict them.

I don't understand the value of that when it is already obvious to anyone who spends a trivial amount of time to discover such things.

If they were so terribly top-secret, why the **** were they classified such that a low-level cross-dressing Lady Gaga fan in the military could access them?

The histrionics of this situation are nearing unbearable levels.

I can't help but notice you keep avoiding my request to provide an example of a non-obvious target on that list.

                      • Think of it like a game of Civ. Let's say you have five cities, and they're all important, and the enemy could go for any of the five. All of the sudden signs pop up with numbers ordering them in terms of how much it would suck if you lost those cities. If the enemy wasn't sure which to attack then, he is now.

I don't have time right now to poke through the list (I might later, I'm at school), but you're missing the point that it's not just the items that matter, it's the fact that they are ON the list and where on the list.

                            A likely excuse.

You're missing the point that obvious things on a list doesn't make them any more obvious.

If someone were to wish to cripple the USA, there's tons of obvious targets that are critical and hard to replace. You need not a list telling you such things.

                              • Or maybe I'm on such a level of intellectual superiority that what I deem to be blindingly obvious is really such a surprise to the rest of you?

I'm not ruling out that possibility, but it seems unlikely.

What seems more likely is you are histrionic over what is in reality quite a non-issue, because you feel hurt that your country was exposed in many less-than-positive light by some obviously dim-witted people.
