It's not guess work. It's resignation, the resignation that the scientific method gets me no where with this problem. So I have a choice to either stay at this point or go farther. I choose to go farther and ask God to bless me.
Then again, there's people that believe that it's not the destination that's important, but the journey. In any case, your argument would hold some more weight if science had been stuck at the same place for a prolonged period of time. It hasn't. It's constantly moving forward. If you are unhappy with its pace, and would rather make up your own rather than help, then go ahead. You probably won't be alone either.
But hey, if for you, the end justifies the means, go ahead and be happy.
I think life got too hard for Kid, so he turned to religion. This way all his choices are made for him and he can retreat into his security blanket of 'faith'...
This reason is simple. In fact, it's a simple matter of reading some books or even using the internet to find out the information. But you claim to know all about it anyway so why should I explain it, especially when I'm not here to explain that. I'm here to explain how you aren't a reasonable person.
What is a reasonable person? Is that someone who is reasonable relative to another person. No, a reasonable person, as we are speaking of one is one who can absolutely seek out truth and can therefore absolutely find the truth. The ancients called that person The Wise Man. The thing is the The Wise Man was not a real person. The Wise Man is an ideal, an absolute. The Wise Man was reasonable because he was perfectly humble, courageous, honest, and concerned.
Today we have no such concept of a reasonable person. A reasonable person today is someone who thinks like we do. This person will not do as a true seeking and finder of truth. But thanks anyway Thomas Jefferson.
The problem with people today is they're like school boys who claim to know everything because they passed all their classes by peeking at the teachers answer book. You only truly find the truth by working out the problems.
Kid, people treat you like you are stupid because you say stupid things. Getting angry and frustrated with them is a symptom of your problem, not theirs.

Pretty cowardly if you ask me.
I think he suffers from Lancer/Dale-syndrome.

False dichotomy. If it's absolute truth, or morality, or purpose that you're looking for and you can't find it in the scientific method, your choice isn't to do nothing or to randomly start believing in one of the several thousand gods we humans believe in.
There is another (there are probably plenty more, but I'm only going to talk about one) choice you have. You can not give a **** about finding absolute truth. You can choose to value your life any way you want to, and you are not limited to doing so by following religion.

That is not a reasonable man. That is an 'ideal' man (according to a certain set of ideals). If you ask 1000 people what 'perfectly humble, courageous, honest, and concerned is, you'd get 1000 different answers. And who the **** are 'the ancients' anyways? Because the ancient Mayans had quite a different world-view from the ancient Greeks (whose culture varied greatly between homeric, classic and alexander's time) and they from ancient Chinese and then again with the Australian aborigines.
In any case, your 'wise man' is more of a product of 'herd thinking' than anything else in this thread...
Then you are too stupid to know what the question is. I already know that it works for you. I want to know why.
Why wouldn't it? Seriously.
Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
Jon Miller: MikeH is a shockingly revolting dolt and a masturbatory urine-reeking sideshow freak whose word is as valuable as an aging cow paddy. We've got both kinds
