Yeah but I imagine the costs for life imprisonment are pretty steep. I mean if someone's going to be behind bars for 60 years or something...

Well, for someone on life without parole you just have to lock him down for 60 years with several 1000 other people
and give him food and medical service.

Someone who might get executed however will have endless trials, for which judges have to be paid,
attorneys, as well as, usual, a public defender for the accused.
And usually even people sentenced to death stay in prison for 10 or more years,
till all legal means have been utilized and the only thing that might save him from walking the green mile is an intervention by the governor.
You might also think about the fact that only a small percentage of those who were initially sentenced to death really are put to death, while for most the sentence is finally turned into imprisonment, because too many doubts arise about the guilt of the convicted person

Prison is too cushy. They have cable tv

I know a guy. He has a flatscreen in his cell. I don't know what screen size though.

you all realize that can't be the same quiz. That one is 15 questions while the one in the survey is stated as 32.

The old testiment has a whole lot on the death penalty; mainly who should get it and there were a lot of people.

No, it's the same quiz they took a sample. Surprised it took this long to show up here. I heard about this about a week ago.

Got 14/15, missed the Great Awakening one.

I don't think the quiz is really a test of religious knowledge. There isn't very much doctrine, and 2 of the questions pertain to civics and really don't have anything to do with what the church teaches.

Well, I should think 'turn the other cheek' in the sermon on the mount is pretty explicit, no?

Same with judgement being the role of God not man. It's not our job to kill people, because that will happen on God's time.

As for birth control, be fruitful and multiply. Right there, first chapter of Genesis.

It is pretty explicit for sending care packages to Felons though.
Yep. Catechesis isn't just a problem for Catholics though. I've been on both sides of the fence and biblical illiteracy is a problem pretty much everywhere. However, this test sucks at answering that question, because it doesn't have a single question about the bible.

                      Proteus, long time no hear.

Well, everything I hear from evangelicals hints at them placing more value into the old testament (things like "an eye for an eye", "divine revenge" and "homosexuality [or everything I define as immoral]
Except for the fact that homosexuality is condemned in Romans. Seems you need to brush up on your scripture.

"women are inferior to men" etc. )
Husband to be head of the family as Christ is head of the church appears in Ephesians, btw.

Ben, both of those interpretations would be implicit statements.

Yeah, in the US at least which is why I only stated it for the US. I assume not in eg. China.

It's fairly well documented. A populist article:

                            http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29552692/

"It's 10 times more expensive to kill them than to keep them alive," though most Americans believe the opposite, said Donald McCartin, a former California jurist known as "The Hanging Judge of Orange County" for sending nine men to death row.

It's funny how God just plain changed his mind.

Just like how Popes are infallible until they die and the new Pope undoes whatever previous Popes did or said.
