So I just came back. It was a hot day (the hottest of this year and hottest in decades) and I was sweating like a pig (no AC). That's OK though. It's hot for everyone.

It went pretty well. They had ready questions for me that they used for everyone. They said the short list is 4 people, and I'm one of them. I got the impression that they hadn't yet decided on the previous 3, as in it wasn't yet locked in their minds. I was the last one to be interviewed.

They had pretty tough questions though. I've got to admit, they put me to the spot but I think I handled myself well. i was honest: to some questions I had to answer no, I don't have experience of that yet, but I have experience in this and that etc. It lasted for an hour. The 'would-be-my-boss' liked me I think. He worried a bit (I sense) that my background is academic, and that maybe it's too academic. So I said that I realize this is an issue people might have but I'm a hands-on person particularly, that I did my doctoral studies in 2 years, de facto, and that it shouldn't be held against me for being capable of doing that. I said the previous in different words of course.

Towards the end of the interview, the 'would-be-my-boss' said to the other interviewer, who would be my co-worker, that my answers have been comprehensive and perfect.

So go figure. Let's say I would be extremely disappointed if I didn't get the job now. And it's a grrreeeeeaaat job! They will let me know on the second week of next month, so it'll be few weeks.

I try to think that I was selected out of many people into a list of 4 of this demanding and high position that is also very official one, and that I made to the list even with my lesser experience and young age and that I should be proud of that fact. But man it'll suck if I dont' get it.
    In da butt.

It's good that you were the last one to be interviewed, because their memory of you will be fresher than of the others. And if they think your answers were perfect, then that's even better. My prediction: you will get the job.

I always liked to go first and set the bar too high for the rest. And if you're the first, it's less likely that they've already settled on someone they liked.

But, I have faith in the supercitizen.

          $5000 per month (even Euros)

seems kind of low for a senior/director level position. In the US, it would be at least 2X that.

Sure, but in here everything is smaller, except taxes and prices

Things are sometimes relative, and since I live in here, I find it irrelevant to me as in terms of fellow citizens, my purchasing power would be strong. 10k a month is director level salary in here sometimes, but not all of the times. 10k a month is more like private sector director for a big company.

10 times that? I'm not sure if anyone in this country make such salary. Perhaps some top executives of Nokia. Maybe not even them.

I have a good feeling about this. Then again I never had a good feeling about these and always got the job so hopefully this isn't one of them reverse things, then. I'm still sure they weren't locked on someone before I got there. Perhaps they had a favorite, but not locked yet. Before we even started the interview, they kept saying how if they don't find anyone, they'll make a new call and then it'll take like months before they can fill this position, or they might go back to the list of original applicants again and call some of those people. They also seemed a bit skeptical like just in the beginning. The whole situation became more relaxed and talkative, I strongly got the sense that the people before me did not impress them. They had tough questions and should someone say to every one "yes I know how to do that", they'd be lying their asses off. They even said my area of expertise seems very wide, so can I narrow it down better, so I did. I said that I would scope it to this and this, and things such as x and y aren't very strong for me and things z and b I need help with, but the field of n and m I'm most likely a top candidate in the country.

Sorry for making this thread so long. This job would mean a lot to me and I'm glad because I think I didn't screw it up. if I don't get it, I don't have to think that I could have done something different in the interview. I think it went well, and I gave it my best and should I fail, it's OK too.

Well, I guess it didn't go THAT well. I just got an email that was sent to all the interviewed candidates saying that they will make their decision in 3 weeks and before that, they will interview 3 extra people... so I guess we, the first 4, didn't impress them enough. Oh well... my business partner, then again, knows the people in that place and said I wasn't missing much, it's a position for lots of lost hair and deleted brain cells... particularly that it is a position that it is a position of power in this society, however, it might not be worth the effort, because the price is high to be paid personally.

I still wanted the job but I guess this one was not meant to be. This leaves me 100 % active to the company though, so maybe that's better in the long term.

I wouldn't read too much into them interviewing more people. If they didn't want you they would say so and wouldn't wait to interview others.

I disagree. That's a bad sign. Not a positive no, because if they don't like the next three, they may go back to the best of the old group. So there is still some hope. They may just be really picky or they just couldn't come to agreement. When you hire by committee that can happen.

Yeah it's sort of like a committee doing the picking... also, they said earlier that the position is sort of tailored after the person who is chosen, meaning also that the position might not be filled at all, it might be just deleted altogether.

I haven't hoped for the job ever since I got the e-mail but I guess you never know. I gave it my best though. Maybe this time it just wasn't enough.
