....of others, because we are all perfect, of course
As an entrepreneur, I sometimes find it difficult to cope with. I try to be nice. That means I don't burst, I don't shout at anyone, I don't say bad words, I just say 'great' and 'OK so next time we'll do it like this, make sense?'.
An example. I am at a point where more people are joining me. So this increases expenditures many times over. If I pay, say 2500 euros to an employee, i have to pay about 0,52 in side cost as well, so that's 1300 euros on top of the salary. So an employee would cost me 3800 euros, every single month. On top of that, I have to provide them with some working space, a laptop, phone... and that's just necessities. So I'm at a point where I simply cannot grow aligned to the investments made on employees - they simply will not provide the same value as the money that goes in them. Then again, for the long term plans, I need more people. So I figure it's a price that has to be paid for now. I also need them, because I can't do everything.
So at this point it is essential that the people that get paid regularly are very competent. They need to be committed to this. We need more customers soon, more projects, and if I'm the only one calling and getting deals, it's not good. It seems to me, that when ever I've been working in normal jobs, people do their 9 to 5 just fine. But now, with this own business thing, everyone seems to wait. People have thumbs up their asses and no one is willing to do actual labor, it's as if it is a waiting contest because someone HAS to do it at some point. And I freaking hate that.
At the same time, I don't want to build this company where people are unsatisfied, where I treat them badly or there is someone who treats others badly. 2500 euros is not a lot of money for competent people anyway. So there are other "perks", such as good atmosphere and the ability to be "inside" before it becomes bigger.
So if you're have started a business, I'm sure you know all of this. How did you deal or do deal with incompetence? It's like hiring a new person always makes the company bleed and not hiring is not the route to take for the long term.
